At this point in his career, Lagerfeld is allowed a little irreverence, especially when it comes to himself. Which means he can do with the house signatures what he will, like taking those tweeds and messing them up.

Everything felt like a hyper version of Chanel. Like it was on speed or at least moving at the speed of a hurtling comet. At least on this day every season, Chanel is the center of the fashion universe — and even the stars are awestruck by the spectacle.

Glamour came with 'tude, as well. Oversized sweatshirts were sexed up with embellishment while glitzy cropped jackets topped short gauzy dresses hovering near babydoll lengths.

Evening was a little more body-conscious where she took the idea of suit lapels sewn together as the main detail. These were sewn across the bodies of sporty black patterned dresses, or tunics worn with loose trousers.

Riccardo Tischi wanted to make a statement with fall Givenchy about what the state of it all is. So he asked Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons to riff on it and then sing about it live at the show. Antony's feminist manifesto? "Women must step forward and start to forge a new way forward for our species and for all of nature." Kim Kardashian was sitting front row. Next to her was paramour Kanye West and other zeitgeist-y celebs, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Sefried, Ciara and Frank Ocean. The clothes themselves were a melange of Victorian romanticism and gypsy embellishment, said Tischi.

His prints were interesting: distorted digital nature motifs in moody colors that played perfectly into the serious atmosphere.

The story was that these girls were clearly on a night out from the dorm, up to no good in the most innocent sense. They had to make do with their uniforms and the contents of their school wardrobes

Ever wonder what happened behind closed doors at the world's fanciest hotels back in the day when glamour and mystery were still a part of our every day? Marc Jacobs fashioned his Louis Vuitton runway after a hotel corridor lined with doors, the girls coming out in threes, doing a lap, and returning to their respective "rooms". And if this is the type of fashion they're serving there, we're checking in for a long, long while, thank you.
